Karen Fox: Writer/Director
Well before graduating the National Shakespeare Conservatory, Karen was writing and performing one person shows in New York City and taking dance class with Twyla Tharp’s company. She went on to write and direct plays, ensemble physical theatre and dance works for entertainment, fine art, education and social work organizations. She also accepted traditional acting and singing roles. With a satirical sense of humor and a penchant for physical virtuosity, it was natural for her to discover clowning, and aerial arts. She attended Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Clown College, and the San Francisco Circus School. She has also written music and lyrics for projects. Her work has been presented at The Kennedy Center, The Smithsonian Museum of African American History and Culture, Off-Broadway, San Francisco stages, schools, prisons and corporate events. “Emma Lee” is Karen’s first film, a narrative based music video. Finally, she is inspired to realize her dream of working in this medium. She aims to develop this form, gain work in the professional movie industry and branch out, as writer/director, into full length films.
