Emmy Award-winning Music supervisor, Composer and Music Producer Mike Higham began his career in the music industry by working for legendary record producer Trevor Horn, working with such artists as U2, Seal, Rod Stewart, Tina Turner, Tom Jones, Spice Girls, Eric Clapton, Sting and many others.

While engineering, editing, programming and producing for Horn, Higham found his way into film music, working his way up from programming music on films such as Toys and Days Of Thunder to becoming one of the busiest music editors and supervisors on a massive array of successful film and television projects—shaping the soundtrack on everything from period pieces (Elizabeth, King Arthur) to romance (Notting Hill, Bridget Jones’s Diary) to fantasy and adventure (Hellboy II: The Golden Army, Clash of the Titans), to pulse-quickening thrillers (United 93, Quantum of Solace, Hanna).

He has been a regular collaborator on Tim Burton’s films, beginning with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and up through the recent Dark Shadows, Frankenweenie and Big Eyes. Higham collaborated with Burton on the movie musical Sweeney Todd for which he received a Grammy nomination for his work on the film’s soundtrack. Higham won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Music for a Miniseries, on the highly acclaimed series Band of Brothers. More recently finished working on Captain Phillips for director Paul Greengrass and starring Tom Hanks.

Mike’s latest USA projects have been Supervising, Producing and composing music for Disney’s and Stephen Sondheim's “Into the Woods”. This had Mike live in NYC for 11 months while the project was completed.

Currently Mike is co-composing Tim Burton’s latest film “Miss Peregrine’s home for Peculiar Children" which releases in 2016.

In this seminar, Mr. Higham will grant us a look into his process for music selection as well as the techniques and applications that he employs when adding music to film. Sharing some of the stories of his motion picture experiences, Mr. Higham will also highlight some of the critical roles needed to bring a film The Perfect Score.
